All TFO products purchased from an authorized dealer have a no-fault lifetime warranty that covers manufacturing defects. This warranty is exclusively between TFO and the registered owner of the product.

ROD REPAIRS

We know how awful it is to break your favorite fishing rod (we’ve been there). TFO Parts and Service provide our anglers complete confidence that if a TFO product is broken for any reason, there is a solution to get them back on the water quickly and without hassles.

Every TFO fishing rod is built with an emphasis on extreme consistency and reliability. And because we understand the quality TFO anglers demand, we take the extra step of testing 100% of our fishing rods before they ever leave the factory. Fishing rods do get broken, but we work hard to ensure that it’s not due to faulty components or manufacturing issues.

We will candidly answer questions about why a fishing rod broke and we’ll tell you if we don’t know. It may also be helpful to refer to Tom Kirkman’s article, Rod Failure (RodMaker Magazine). It’s usually not difficult to determine why a fishing rod unfortunately broke and this is a fantastic analysis discussing the differences between damaged and defective rod failures. If a TFO product is broken or damaged because of typical wear and tear, accidents, smashed guides or even abuse, no problem. For a fee TFO provides thorough and timely product service. For multi-piece rods, we also provide replacement sections as an alternative to returning your rod for service and so that you can carry spares when you travel.

ROD WARRANTY

TFO will always repair or replace any product with a component or manufacturing defect. If you believe your rod broke because of faulty components or manufacturing defects, please call us at 214-638-9052. We will ask you to return the rod to us, but before doing so we’re happy to discuss the warranty program and any concerns you have.

Fly Rods

Fly Rods: Warranty Policy & Procedures

First, we ask that you register your fly rod if you have not done so.

Simply send the entire rod to our address in Dallas, Texas. Yes, you must send in your entire rod so that we can fully service the rod and make sure that every section is in good shape. We will re-fit new sections to replace broken ones and inspect the remainder for any additional damage or wear.

We recommend using a carrier that provides tracking information in case of a problem. Make sure to include a note with your return shipping/contact information and a check for $35 per rod (walk-ins are $25). PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH. Failure to include the proper return shipping information may result in additional fees. Your repaired rod will be shipped back to you within a few days of receipt. For custom rods built from TFO blanks we will replace the broken section with a non-custom section and return to you your custom hardware from any broken sections. We also provide replacement sections as an alternative to returning your rod for service and so that you can carry spares when you travel.

International service will cost $25 plus the cost of shipping. Please contact us for more details.

* It is not advised to send personal rod tubes, rod/reel carriers or any other personal items with your rod. We cannot promise the safe return of those items. Please ship your rods in a standard cardboard tube/triangular box available at any shipping location.

** Our preferred carrier is FedEx and we strongly recommend that all rods sent to TFO for service are shipped with a “signature required” delivery option.

WE STRONGLY DISCOURAGE THE USE OF USPS FOR SERVICE RETURNS AS A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF THESE SHIPMENTS ARE LOST IN TRANSIT AND NEVER RECEIVED BY TFO.

TFO charges a fee for conventional rod service plus the cost of shipping. Fees are listed in the chart below.

Do not include payment with your rod. We can combine shipping for multiple rods being repaired at once. We will contact you with a repair total once your replacement rod(s) is ready to ship. Dealers are not authorized to offer replacements under this warranty. If you have a rod fail for any reason, please return it to our address in Dallas, TX.

What should you send us?

One-piece Rods

For broken or damaged 1-piece rods or custom rods from a 1-piece TFO blank, don’t send us your entire rod. Instead, send us the name and logoed portion of the rod, as well as correct and current contact information (physical address, email and phone number). Upon receipt, we will contact you for payment. Once we receive payment, we will send out your new rod.

Multiple-piece Rods

For broken or damaged multiple-piece rods, the entire rod must be shipped to us. We will refit new sections to the remaining portion of your rod and address any additional damage that we find. We also provide replacement sections as an alternative to returning your rod for service and so that you can carry spares when you travel.

International Service In most cases, we’ll help you locate the nearest TFO international distributor because they will offer the most affordable service options. Please contact us at 214-638-9052.

Reels & Spools

Reel & Spool Service

In the case that you encounter a problem with your TFO reel or spool, we ask that you send it in for inspection. Upon evaluation, we’ll be able to determine whether your item needs to be repaired or replaced.

If we determine that a repair is possible, the fee for parts is $15 plus the return shipping expense.

If we determine that your item needs to be replaced, the replacement fee is half of the retail price of the reel and/or spool plus the return shipping expense.
